This palette behaves like reflected light: blue leans green, green leans gray, and pink appears as small interruptions. None of the five colors needs to be fully saturated because simultaneous cool shifts create the sense of a moving surface.
Why this palette works
Value changes are quieter than hue changes
Most of the pond sits in a compressed middle-to-dark range. The eye reads depth from small blue-green and violet shifts rather than a dramatic jump from black to white.
Mauve connects water and flowers
The dusty violet is not limited to petals; related notes occur in reflections. It bridges the cold pond and warm pink, preventing the flowers from looking pasted onto the surface.
Pink is sparse visual punctuation
Petal pink covers very little of the canvas. Its warmth and lightness are enough to guide attention, which is why the palette should not use it for every button or large panel.

Extraction and editorial method
PIQE clustered the AIC public-domain reproduction and then included representative lily pink and mauve despite their low area. The palette describes the reproduction’s visual relationships, not a catalog of Monet’s pigments.
The process is: cluster sRGB pixels from a resized image, remove near-duplicate candidates, manually compare broad color relationships and small focal accents, then recalculate accessible pairs. PIQE’s role analysis is original and does not copy the museum description.
